After the tragic loss of her father, Veshelle turned to heroin. Addiction led to desperation. Her first prison stint was in 1988 after breaking into her sister’s home and stealing items she could sell for drugs.

After 22 years in and out of prison, Veshelle took a 180 with the help of the Women’s Bean Project. Her story is touching and a fantastic illustration of the impact of the work of Women’s Bean.

Check out this video with her story.
