In Nicaragua, the average income is less than $2 a day. The extra income that women generate by making and selling their jewelry means the difference between a hungry child and a healthy one.
Nicaraguan women created these earrings using hand painted paper that has been cut and rolled into these beautiful beads. The paper beads have been sealed in many coats of satin water-based varnish. The earrings are made with sterling silver ear-wires and are accented by stone beads. They measure approximately 3/4 inch from the bottom of ear-wire. A beautiful card telling about the project will accompany your purchase.
Bead Amigas empowers Nicaraguan women to create a better future for their families through art, education, and entrepreneurship. 100% of net proceeds from sales of these recycled paper beads are returned to their villages in fair wages, training, and community development projects. They know that through this project, impoverished women in Nicaragua can support their families, pursue their dreams, and find their voices. They hope that through artistic expression and beauty, the stories of marginalized women can be shared with the world. They believe that the mutual exchange between women of different cultures, classes, and countries working for a common cause can change the world. Thank you for making a difference.
