In Nicaragua, the average income is less than $2 a day. The extra income that women generate by making and selling their jewelry means the difference between a hungry child and a healthy one.
Nicaraguan women created this kids necklaces using paper beads they hand rolled out of hand painted paper. The paper beads have been sealed in many coats of non-toxic varnish and are accented by wood beads and a hand painted wooden fish pendant. The beads are strung on a strong elastic cord which is finished with a double square knot. Each necklace is composed of multi-colored paper beads and is completely unique. It measures approximately 15 inches and can be stretched to slip over your head. Beads and fish pendants will vary. These would make great stocking stuffers!!
Bead Amigas empowers Nicaraguan women to create a better future for their families through art, education, and entrepreneurship. 100% of net proceeds from sales of these recycled paper beads are returned to their villages in fair wages, training, and community development projects.
