In January 2010, Think Humanity’s founder met in the Acholi Quarter Camp for Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) just outside Kampala, Uganda with an Acholi woman named Ayaa Grace. Grace said, “Young people in the IDP Camp are losing morals. Young girls are getting pregnant and they cannot attend school with babies strapped to their backs.” Think Humanity donated sewing machines so that girls could learn a trade and that was when the “Teen Mom Tailoring Project” began. Now there are 20 girls all working to support their families. Think Humanity purchases the products and sells them in the USA for a small profit. 100 percent then goes back to support refugee projects in healthcare, education, clean water and socio-economic development.
One side of the sling bag has the Think Humanity name and logo. The bag measures 12" height x 17" wide. The strap hangs 18-20” from shoulder to hip with a black lining and fastens with a large, sturdy zipper. There's a zipper pocket on the front of the bag and a pocket inside the bag. All bags are made in Uganda by teen moms in the Acholi Quarter Camp for Internally Displaced Persons (IDP Camp) and they are there due to war in Northern Uganda. Our products are sent with a Think Humanity brochure and information on this project. All items are unique so no two are the same.
Think Humanity has been providing mosquito nets, clean water and education to refugees in Africa since 2007. We have distributed more than 20,000 mosquito nets; we have a Community Health Centre where we treat refugees and people from rural underdeveloped communities in Uganda and a girl's hostel where girls from South Sudan, Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo can receive safety, care and love while they get an education. One way that Think Humanity raises funds is by purchasing products made by women in the Acholi Quarter Camp just outside Kampala. These Acholi women are displaced due to war in Northern Uganda and South Sudan. We have been partnering with them since 2009. When you purchase a product through Think Humanity, 100 percent of the money will go back to help with our programs in Africa. Learn more about Think Humanity.
